Death Anniversary: Jacques-Christophe Naudot — November 16, 1762

16 November 2026
Paris

He died in Paris on 16 November 1762 in the rue de la Huchette. Deeply connected to French aristocratic and Masonic circles, he was one of the foremost French masters of woodwind chamber music, publishing seventeen collections of sonatas, duets and concertos for the transverse flute, musette and hurdy-gurdy that defined the galant salon aesthetic of Louis XV’s reign.

A note on this date. The exact day of birth is not preserved in eighteenth-century French archives (c. 1690); we celebrate his verified death anniversary on 16 November. We publish it with the warning rather than leave the page out, and if you can point us to a register or an archive that carries it we will confirm or correct it.
