Death Anniversary: Pierre Dumage — October 2, 1751

02 October 2027
Laon

He died at Laon on 2 October 1751 after a distinguished career as organist of Saint-Quentin Collegiate Church and subsequently Laon Cathedral. A student of Louis Marchand in Paris, his solitary surviving publication, the Premier livre d’orgue of 1708, contains eight suites of remarkable contrapuntal elegance that stand among the finest achievements of the French classical organ school.

A note on this date. The exact day of birth is not preserved (baptised November 1674 in Beauvais); we celebrate his verified death anniversary on 2 October. We publish it with the warning rather than leave the page out, and if you can point us to a register or an archive that carries it we will confirm or correct it.
