04 November 2026
Jena

He died in Jena on 4 November 1753 at eighty-four. Renowned as an organ builder and maker of harpsichords, he developed lute-harpsichords and tempered tuning systems praised by his second cousin Johann Sebastian Bach; his surviving comic cantata Der jenaische Wein- und Bierrufer remains a vivid student satire.
