Eugène Delacroix was born near Paris on 26 April 1798. He spent his last years in an apartment and studio on the Place de Fürstemberg, a small square hidden behind Saint-Sulpice, painting the murals that fill the church just steps away. The Musée National Eugène-Delacroix now occupies those rooms — one of the few artist’s museums anywhere that still sits exactly where the work was made.
