Anniversary: The Storming of the Winter Palace — November 7, 1917
07 November 2027
On the night of 7 November 1917 by the Western calendar — 25 October by the Julian calendar Russia still used — Bolshevik forces broke into the Winter Palace in Petrograd and arrested the ministers of the Provisional Government sheltering inside. The palace of the tsars, home to one of the world’s great art collections as the State Hermitage Museum, changed hands in a single night and never went back to being a residence.
