Gaudí and the Modern City — Casa Botines Gaudí Museum, León

29 July 2026 — 25 October 2026
Gaudí and the Modern City — Casa Botines Gaudí Museum, León

Casa Botines — the neo-Gothic house Antoni Gaudí built in León, and today the museum that carries his name — hosts Gaudí y la Ciudad Moderna, a temporary exhibition on the relationship between Gaudí and the transformations that reshaped European cities between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. The show is part of the official programme of Año Gaudí 2026.

The exhibition unfolds in three sections: the modern city itself, with the historical and urban context of industrialisation; Gaudí’s contribution to the new cities of modernity; and the revolution in domestic architecture, told through Casa Botines itself and Gaudí’s residential buildings in Barcelona. On display are blueprints, drawings, photographs, models, furniture and original pieces showing how architecture, design and industry answered a society in full transformation.

The exhibition is curated by Luis Gueilburt Talmazán and Carlos Varela Fernández. Alongside it the museum runs the urban route «León, la ciudad moderna», which reads the city’s own turn-of-the-century streets as an extension of the show.
