Federico Fellini was born in Rimini on 20 January 1920. The cinema of his childhood, the Fulgor on the ground floor of Palazzo Valloni, is where he discovered the screen he would fill with La dolce vita, 8½ and the Rimini of Amarcord — a city he preferred to rebuild from memory at Cinecittà rather than film in place. Today the restored Fulgor is part of the Fellini Museum, and the anniversary belongs to both the director and his town.
