Arcana. Il Leone del Nuovo Orizzonte — Andrea da Montefeltro at Castello dei Conti Oliva
From July 10 to September 30, 2026, the Castello dei Conti Oliva in Piandimeleto, in the heart of Montefeltro, hosts «Arcana. Il Leone del Nuovo Orizzonte» (“Arcana. The Lion of the New Horizon”), a solo exhibition by sculptor Andrea da Montefeltro. Artistic direction is by Annalisa Di Maria; the exhibition is promoted by the Comune di Piandimeleto with the support of the UNESCO Club of Florence.
The works are carved from Montefeltro stone, the same stone that built the villages and fortresses of these valleys: a choice that ties the sculpture to the landscape it comes from. The exhibition draws a line between the region’s Renaissance legacy — that of Federico da Montefeltro and the Urbino courts — and a «new humanism» built on memory, responsibility and the centrality of the person.
One section of the exhibition is dedicated to the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi (1226–2026), on the themes of peace, brotherhood and the relationship with creation.
Among the works on display are the «Scrigno» (“Casket”) and the «Pater Noster», with the text of the prayer carved into the stone.
