History
Built between 1854 and 1856, the church was constructed to replace an earlier building dedicated to the same saint that had fallen into disrepair and could no longer accommodate its congregation. The new church was positioned nearer to Llys Dulas estate than to the main population centres of the parish, a choice reflecting the interests of the estate’s landowner, who contributed £936 of the total building cost of £1,417.
In 1876, Sir Arundell Neave—who had married into the family owning Llys Dulas—donated 27 panels of stained glass salvaged from a Flemish monastery, dating to the 15th and 16th centuries. This generous gift transformed the church’s interior and remains its defining feature.
