History
The church was constructed between 1855 and 1857 during a period of intense Anglican church building. Street’s involvement elevated the project beyond a simple village commission. In the twentieth century, the church became the parish of Reverend Hubert Brasier, whose daughter would become British Prime Minister Theresa May. May was married at the church, linking it to modern political memory. The churchyard preserves three Commonwealth war graves: one soldier from the Wiltshire Regiment (World War I), and two servicemen from World War II—a Royal Navy sailor and a soldier of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.
