History
The church was designed by Finnish architect Josef Stenbäck and built in 1903, establishing itself as a civic anchor for Joensuu in North Karelia. The organ, a later addition, was installed in 1969 by the Organ Factory of Kangasala. The altar painting, The Crucifixion of Jesus, was commissioned and completed by artist Ilmari Launis in 1910.
