History
The house became the home of Jose Burgos (1837–1872), a Filipino Catholic priest devoted to advancing the secularization of the Philippine Church. In 1872, Burgos and two fellow priests, Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora, were arrested on fabricated charges of sedition and involvement in the Cavite mutiny. All three were executed that year, an act that galvanized Filipino nationalist sentiment and cemented their legacies as early martyrs to Philippine independence.
