History

Rather than allow this loss, authorities chose preservation, transforming the dormant fleet into a museum collection.
In April 2011, the museum marked two significant anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of the first crewed spaceflight and the 90th birthday of pilot-cosmonaut Georgy Berehovoy, commemorated through a dedicated exhibition.
