History
The site’s documented history begins in 1612, when Yelysei Pletenetskyi, archimandrite of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (1550–1624), ordered construction of a paper mill on this location in Radomyshl. Nearly three centuries later, in the late 19th century, Polish engineer Piekarski designed and built a flour mill on the same foundations. During reconstruction work in the early 2000s, researchers uncovered evidence that the original 1612 structure had been designed with defensive capabilities—planned, it seems, to serve as a fortress. Bohomolets purchased and transformed the mill into a living cultural space between 2007 and 2011.
