History
During Poland’s interwar period, railway collections were held at a museum headquarters on Nowy Zjazd Street. The institution was reestablished at its present location as the Railway Museum in Warsaw (Muzeum Kolejnictwa w Warszawie) in 1972. In 2009, PKP initially ordered the museum to vacate by August 31, but the institution remained operational through subsequent years. The museum was formally disestablished on 31 March 2016; the Station Museum opened the following day under new management, inheriting all collections and assets. Proposals to relocate to Odolany railway depot and plans for new premises at the current site were both abandoned. As of 2021, it continues at the original location.
