History
The Ely Community Center emerged from New Deal ambitions to provide both employment and lasting community benefit during economic crisis. Completed in 1938, it became the social and intellectual hub of Ely, housing the library and serving as a venue for gatherings, performances, and civic functions throughout the twentieth century. Community organizations maintained headquarters there into the 1990s. The building was vacated in 2014 when the library relocated to a new facility. In 2018, the Ely City Council voted to sell the structure to the K America Foundation for Korean cultural and heritage programs.
