This designation remained official until 12 December 2020, when it adopted its current name, Lindau-Insel. The renaming reflected shifting patterns in regional rail infrastructure and the reopening of competing services in the area. Historically, Lindau supported multiple stations: Lindau-Siebertsdorf (formerly Lindau-Zech), Lindau Langenweg, Lindau Strandbad, Schoenau, Oberreitnau, and Rehlings—most now closed or repurposed.
