History
The complex functioned as the home of the Montreal Star and related publications throughout much of its operational history until the newspaper ceased publication in 1979. From 1980 to 2003, the Montreal Gazette held ownership of the building. A comprehensive renovation undertaken in 2008–2009 transformed the historic structure into its current role as a hotel property.
