History
Completed in 1955, the building was designed by Ng Keng Siang, one of Singapore’s pioneering architects. It originally served as headquarters for the Asia Insurance Company, among the first local insurance firms established in the region. For sixteen years, the tower commanded Singapore’s skyline before the Meritus Mandarin Tower 1 surpassed it in 1971. The building was acquired by the Ascott Group in 2006 and underwent comprehensive refurbishment into a serviced apartment residence, renamed Ascott Raffles Place.
