Who Owns This Publication, and Who Pays for It
Readers deserve to know who is behind what they read. This page discloses the ownership and the revenue of Cultural Heritage Online.
Ownership
Cultural Heritage Online is published by OASIS Tech LLC, a privately held United States company founded and directed by Luigi De Marchi, who is also the publication’s editor & publisher (see the Masthead). The company has no outside investors and no institutional or government shareholders. The archive has been under the same ownership and editorial direction since it began in 1998 as beniculturalionline.it.
How the publication is funded
Cultural Heritage Online is reader- and partner-funded. Revenue comes from:
- Memberships — readers and cultural operators who subscribe to paid plans for additional tools and services.
- Venue partnerships — historic hotels, museums and cultural venues that join the Founding Partner programme for an editorial presence in the archive.
- Guest articles — paid editorial contributions from cultural operators and institutions, accepted under the Editorial Guidelines and labelled as guest content.
The publication carries no display advertising networks, receives no government funding, and has taken no venture capital.
Commercial content is always labelled
Content connected to a paying partner — a partner venue’s profile, a guest article — is identified as such where it appears. Commercial relationships never exempt a page from the Corrections Policy, and coverage in the magazine and catalogue is not for sale: the archive documents thousands of places that have never paid anything.
