History
O’Keeffe purchased the property in 1940 and moved there permanently in 1943, making it her home until her death in 1986 at age ninety-eight. In 1998, the Home and Studio earned recognition as a National Historic Landmark, acknowledged as one of the most important artistic sites in the southwestern United States.

Practical information & getting there
Public tours are available March through November and require advance tickets. The Home and Studio is located in Abiquiú in northern New Mexico, roughly ninety minutes north of Santa Fe. The museum also maintains a second location in Santa Fe for year-round access to O’Keeffe’s works and archives.
