Alcázar of Jerez de la Frontera

History
The first fortress was probably built in the 11th century, when Jerez formed part of the Taifa of Arcos de la Frontera. After the Reconquista, Christian rulers claimed the site as the seat of the first municipal governors, and development continued with the addition of a palace and ancillary buildings.
