A volcanic landscape in northern New South Wales, Wollumbin National Park protects Mount Warning, the remnant peak of an extinct caldera, and harbours rare bird species and distinctive wildlife in its subtropical forests.

History
The park was previously known as Mount Warning National Park and is administered by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. The landscape reflects a volcanic past: Mount Warning is the central peak of a much larger extinct volcano, the Tweed volcano, whose remnant caldera defines the region’s dramatic topography.

The dominant feature is Mount Warning itself, rising 1,157 metres above sea level. The park’s ecology encompasses subtropical forest environments shaped by volcanic soils and the region’s climate, creating distinct microclimates across the caldera rim.
Cultural significance
BirdLife International has designated Wollumbin National Park part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area because of its role in conserving several threatened bird species. The park represents a critical refuge for both endemic and migratory fauna in northern New South Wales.
