The pre-credits chase of Quantum of Solace (2008) crashes James Bond into Siena during the Palio, and a brutal rooftop and underground fight plays out as the city’s bareback horse race thunders around the Piazza del Campo. The shell-shaped medieval square, sloping to the Palazzo Pubblico and its tower, has staged the Palio twice a year for centuries.
