Michael Radford’s Il Postino (1994) imagines the exiled poet Pablo Neruda befriending a shy island postman, and was filmed largely on Procida, the smallest and most vivid of the islands in the Bay of Naples. The pastel harbour of Marina Corricella and the island’s quiet lanes carry the film’s gentle melancholy.
