The museum was inaugurated on 30 April 2003 in a disused warehouse formerly owned by ILVA (previously ITALSIDER). The conversion transformed an industrial space into a cultural venue dedicated to preserving the memory of cycling champions Fausto Coppi and Costante Girardengo, both of whom spent most of their lives in Novi Ligure.
