Fiavé Archaeological Nature Park
The Fiavé Archaeological Nature Park (Parco Naturale Archeologico di Fiavé) is an open-air heritage site in the Lomaso valley of Trentino, protecting one of the most important Bronze Age pile-dwelling settlements in the Alpine region. The Fiavé site is a component of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps” (inscribed 2011), and is notable for the exceptional preservation of its wooden architectural remains and organic artefacts recovered during excavations spanning the twentieth century.

Overview
Fiavé is a small municipality in the Lomaso valley of western Trentino, and its archaeological site represents one of the richest Bronze Age pile-dwelling discoveries in northern Italy. The wetland environment that once surrounded the ancient village has preserved wooden structural elements, tools, ceramics, and organic materials in remarkable condition, providing archaeologists with an unusually complete picture of Alpine Bronze Age life. History
The Fiavé pile-dwelling site was identified during land improvement works in the late nineteenth century, but systematic scientific excavation began only in 1969 under the direction of archaeologist Renato Perini, continuing until 1976. These campaigns revealed a sequence of settlement phases spanning roughly 800 years of the Bronze Age, with stratified layers preserving wooden pile foundations, wattle-and-daub wall fragments, and an exceptional range of domestic artefacts. The site was subsequently protected as a nature park to conserve both the archaeological remains and the wetland ecosystem. Its inscription as part of the transnational UNESCO World Heritage property in 2011 recognised its outstanding universal value alongside 110 other Alpine pile-dwelling sites.
