A repository of public and private records spanning the fourteenth to twentieth centuries, housed in Palazzo Mazzancolli, one of Terni’s oldest buildings in the historic center.

History

Originally established as a Section of the State Archives, the institution was elevated by ministerial decree on May 15, 1957, and formally became the State Archives of Terni in 1963. The Section of the State Archives of Orvieto operates under its administrative jurisdiction. The oldest holdings include the municipal archive, which documents Terni’s administrative governance from 1315 to 1952, providing continuity across seven centuries of local governance.
