The four-sided castle, built by the Normans, was the home of the Pietramala barons.
Renovated and modified into a real fortification, under the barony of the Giannuzzi family, it was equipped with a drawbridge, two mighty cylindrical towers and walls.
Severely damaged by earthquake events, it has recently undergone restoration work.
