Another day, another NFT.
The Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy is entering cryptocurrency.
The gallery sold Michelangelo's Doni Tondo as an NFT for $ 170,000.
The Uffizi authenticates the physical art while Cinello creates the digital duplicate.
The pandemic has hit all the establishments in person, will this pivot be a saving grace for the good of the artists?
Eike Schmidt, the director of the gallery commented:
In the medium term [NFT sales] will be able to contribute to a museum's finances, comparable to the proceeds from catering. It is not a change of direction in terms of revenue, it is an additional income. But creating such a market is not a quick thing.
Here is the new Economy of Culture!
The future is now the present!
