Frosinone is also often identified as the capital of Ciociaria is an industrial and commercial center.

Geographically it constitutes an important communication hub in southern Lazio.

Volscian city with the name of Frusna and then Roman as Frùsino, in the course of its history due to its location has been subjected to many devastations and looting; as a consequence of this and of the destruction due to seismic events (the most ruinous of which was in 1350) it retains few important traces of its past, such as the ruins of the amphitheater, the finds preserved in the city archaeological museum and the funerary monument of the II century in the locality of Sant'Angelo.
