Shanghai Tower (上海 ä¸å¿ƒ 大厦 S, ShànghÇŽi ZhÅngxÄ«n DàshàP; Shanghainese: Zånhe Tsonshin Dasa, literally: Downtown Shanghai Tower) is a skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai in China.
The building, 632 meters high, has 128 floors with an area of 380,000 m2, is the tallest skyscraper in China and the second tallest in the world, after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It welcomes around 16,000 people a day.
It shares the record (along with the Ping An Finance Center) of having the tallest observation deck in the world inside a building or structure at 562 meters high, and the fastest elevators in the world with a maximum speed of 20, 5 meters per second (74 km / h). It is the second tallest building in the world by height with respect to the architectural plan.
Urban development plans dating back to 1993 showed the presence of three skyscrapers next to each other in the financial district of Lujiazui. Two have already been completed, the Jin Mao Building in 1998, and the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2008.
The Tower takes the form of nine cylinders stacked one above the other for a total of 128 floors, enclosed by an internal layer of glass that will develop along the facade.
The various layers wind along an uphill path, giving life to 9 internal areas that will have special spaces for visitors. Each of these 9 areas will consist of its own atrium furnished with gardens, cafes, restaurants, and commercial spaces, offering a breathtaking 360 ° view of the city.
