Montecuccolo Castel is an ancient castle located in the municipality of Pavullo nel Frignano, in the province of Modena, in Emilia Romagna. It overlooks the small hamlet of Montecuccolo, 4 km southwest of Pavullo, in the direction of Lama Mocogno.
It rises to 873 meters above sea level. together with its small medieval village. It is mentioned for the first time in 1027 and was owned by the family that took its name from the place: the da Montecuccolo, then Montecuccoli.
Perched on one of the hills surrounding Pavullo nel Frignano, in the hamlet of Montecuccolo, it overlooks the small medieval village of the same name, where the beautiful church of San Lorenzo stands out, built in 1577. The castle, although partially damaged, retains the clearly visible characteristics of the original plant.
