A unique venue, the dream of a visionary entrepreneur and bureaucracy: this is the story of Michelangelo da Vinci.
My dream would have been to create a place on the two planes, reserved for children and seniors who have never been on board.
For ten years I worked as a manager in two retirement homes. Even now I remember that many old people, when they saw a plane in the sky, told me that they would like to get on it
Michelangelo da Vinci was a dream come true in the Rovigo countryside: two planes (Douglas DC-6 and a Tupolev TU-134 A) joined by a control tower and transformed into a place to eat and have fun.
Two other rooms full of frescoes and statues and certainly original and unique settings.
Those who have been lucky enough to experience the place when it was in operation say that there was a lot of fun and ate very well.
Is the name familiar to you? Perhaps because it brings together the two great geniuses of Italian art: Leonardo and Michelangelo to create a one-of-a-kind venue in which every corner is a work of art.
You could choose between various settings of the Michelangelo da Vinci restaurant: the two planes (a Douglas DC-6 and a Tupolev TU-145), the rustic in a fantastic setting surrounded by frescoes and statues in a suggestive mix, or in the summer evenings you can enjoy the coolness in the fantastic garden under the mammoth wings of the two planes.
Michelangelo da Vinci was inaugurated in 2000 but just three months after the opening of the commercial activity, the Municipality challenged a building abuse with a fine of one billion, 252 million and 480 thousand lire.
At that point, negotiations began between the parties that led to an agreement for the regularization of the structures, through a recovery plan.
But the maxi fine remained despite the appeal made by the company that owns the place asking for the payment to be blocked.
Company that since 2014 has closed its doors as well as the planes and all the restaurant premises.
The creator of all this is Gigi Stecca to whom we owe an original and healthy "invention": a particular glass with internal grooves that reduces the alcoholic effect of the beer (poured in the right way), without making it lose its freshness and even improving its taste. .
It was exciting to visit this former entertainment venue, still very popular with urbex enthusiasts.
The interiors of the two planes and the other venues are truly incredible.
I can imagine the beauty of the place when everything worked!
In the summer season, the Michelangelo da Vinci restaurant in Rovigo became pub disco music on Saturday evenings and live music with group dances on Sundays.
The real surprise for the photographer was the discovery of two other places, a pub / pizzeria and a nightclub, with a truly crazy setting: Sebastian Pub and Il Convento.
At the time, the evocative setting, the friendliness and courtesy of the staff made Michelangelo Da Vinci the ideal setting for private parties and receptions.
