Campo dei Frari is located in the San Polo district, between Campo San Tomà and Campo San Stin in Venice.
The field takes its name from the ancient local presence of the minor orders, called in Venetian Frari.
Campo dei Frari is one of the most important and popular fields in the lagoon city, due to the presence of the complex of the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, one of the major religious buildings in Venice, containing fundamental works of the Renaissance, such as two altarpieces by Titian.
The field is arranged in an L shape, occupying the area adjacent to the left side of the church and the one facing its facade.
In addition to the size of the basilica and its bell tower, the only other building in the field to have particular historical-architectural importance is the Franciscan monastery, the current State Archives of Venice, whose entrance is on the short side to the right of the Frari facade .
In the field there is a well, located on the side closest to the bell tower.
