It was the year 1953 when Romeo, Amelia and his son Mario inaugurated the business in Via Rosina in the historic village of San Lorenzo. The coffered oak ceiling, still visible in the room today, dates back to the mid-sixteenth century and belonged to the old stables of the Palazzo del Gattamelata, today Palazzo Alessandri. Initially the activity was a mix of wines where the workers of the Central Market met: porters, butchers, gardeners.
In 1957 with Mario's wedding, the shop became a Trattoria with table service and traditional hot dishes prepared with passion in the small kitchen, such as bean and vegetable soup, Florentine tripe, tomato soup, l arista, stew and stewed cod. Trattoria Mario is today a meeting point for students and tourists from all over the world and every day, thanks to the passion handed down by Mario and Elena to their children Romeo, Fabio and the rest of the family, they make the sociability and flavors of the past live.
