Bernalda is an Italian town in the province of Matera, in Basilicata. It is the fourth in the province in order of inhabitants, after Matera, Policoro and Pisticci.
Bernalda stands on a plateau at 127 m a.s.l. in the final part of Val Basento in the southern part of the province of Matera, on the border with the north-western part of the province of Taranto.
Its territory is between the rivers Bradano to the east, which separates the Bernaldese municipality from the municipality of Ginosa (TA) (29 km), and Basento which to the west separates Bernalda from Pisticci (18 km)
