The Molin family was a noble Venetian family that gave the Serenissima many illustrious men, wise and valiant in politics and arms, and several virtuous prelates to the ecclesiastical hierarchy.
The family also owned, among others, some land in the Paduan locality called Mandria, an ancient and very common toponym in the Veneto that derives from animals or objects and actions pertinent to them indicating, precisely, a fenced area for cattle reared in the wild.
The villa stands on those fifty-two fields between the Mandria and Abano Terme that the widow of Vincenzo Molin, Donna Elena, marked in the list of family assets in 1582. The desire to build, towards the end of the 16th century, a dwelling worthy of the his rank belonged to Ambassador Nicolò Molin, a man of vast mind and sharp wit, who assigned the design to the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi who, after the death of Palladio, excelled in the Veneto.
The villa has one of the most beautiful parks in Italy.
