Factory of the Dure Stones and Restoration Laboratories

The Factory of the Dure Stones (Opificio delle Pietre Dure) is based in Florence and is a central institution dependent on the Directorate General for Education and Research of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism.

The institute was born from the merger of two different realities in terms of history, but, over time, they became similar for purposes and purposes.

In 1975 with the instituting law of the Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Heritage all the Florentine restoration laboratories were brought together under the name and the aegis of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, thanks to the status of autonomy that the ancient institution already enjoyed.
