Hazzard County

Newton County is in Georgia, United States and is called Hazzard County in the television broadcast.

Covington is the town in Newton County, where the first shots were made, which were also done in the nearby town of Conyers which is in Rockdale County.

The first episodes that featured throughout the TV series were filmed in these areas before being transferred to the WB Studios in California.

Hazzard (The Dukes of Hazzard) is an American television series designed by Gy Waldron and produced by Warner Bros.Television in collaboration with Lou Step Productions and Piggy Productions.

Characteristic of the series, in each episode there was in fact space at least one long and fun chase between two or more vehicles on the dirt roads of the county, always underlined by a background of country music.

It was broadcast for the first time from January 26, 1979 to February 8, 1985 on the CBS television network, for a total of 147 episodes that have gone through seven seasons.

It is a very successful show, where General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger, was the protagonist.

In the television series the adventures of the Duke family follow one another, composed by the young cousins Bo & Luke and Daisy and by Jesse, their wise and elderly uncle.

Despite the sound principles of loyalty and fairness, which the Dukes have always put before everything, they too, like in the best tradition of many families in the deep south, have never given up the clandestine distillation of whiskey.

This weakness, in the past, has been the cause, for them, of problems with justice and it is for this reason that Bo and Luke are now on parole.

Three years before the events narrated by the series begin, in fact, it is specified that while they were carrying uncle Jesse's produced whiskey, the two boys were captured by the federal police and, in exchange for their freedom, the uncle promised the authorities that he would no longer distill alcohol.

The limited freedom condition requires Bo and Luke not to go beyond the county boundaries, without first asking permission from Commissioner Boss Hogg, and at the same time not to use firearms.

To earn a living, in addition to helping the uncle on the farm, the two cousins do odd jobs for old family friends and often take part in car races.

Cousin Daisy, on the other hand, works at the Boar's Nest, a place where the inhabitants of Hazzard usually gather to dance, listen to country music and drink beer.

The Boar's Nest is actually now a church.

The daily vicissitudes of the Duke family are always opposed to those of the county chief Jefferson Davis Hogg, simply called Boss.

The latter is constantly dealing with shady deals that he tries to carry out by exploiting the more or less voluntary collaboration of the local police, composed of Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane and the deputy sheriffs Enos Strate and Cletus Hogg.

One of Boss Hogg's main desires is to see Bo and Luke rot in jail, who often manage to hinder him by preventing him from completing his countless and dishonest traffics.

The Duke boys are assisted in their exploits by trusted friend Cooter (Hazzard's mechanic).

Fans of the series contest the way in which the Chargers are prepared by Veluzat: often from specimen to specimen they are quite inhomogeneous with each other.

We therefore find "General" with the correct interior begie, others who have it brown and others who show it black.

The position and shape of some accessories are also different, in addition to the body color, which is often not the Flame Red of the first examples.

Even writings and numbers can be placed differently.

These differences are particularly felt because, in the imaginary world of the Dukes, the "General" is always the same machine, he is always repaired by creating "financial crises" in the family, he never suffers such damage as to condemn him to the wrecker.

The famous record jump from about 70 meters in length. At the wheel Al Wyatt.

From the point of view of the real world, things go very differently, given that, depending on the sources, a number that varies between 256 and 321 seems to have been prepared for the seven seasons of the show.

The "death" of Charger is due to the fact that almost always after a jump the body suffers such damage as to prevent the machine from being reused.

Stuntmen John Cade and Corey Eubanks made about 40% of the jumps with the generals, they are the men who have the most "flight hours" aboard the car.

Al Wyatt holds the record for the longest jump, 236 feet or around 70 meters.

Buzz Bundy is the author of all the stunts on two wheels with what are called the "sky Generals", the cars used for that type of shooting.
