RMS Titanic wreck

The RMS Titanic was a British transatlantic of the Olympic class, which became famous for the collision with an iceberg on the night between 14 and 15 April 1912 and the consequent dramatic sinking that occurred in the early hours of 15 April 1912.

According to a trio of transatlantic liners, the Titanic, along with its twins Olympic and Britannic, was designed to offer a weekly scheduled connection with America and guarantee the domination of ocean routes at the White Star Line.

Built at Belfast's Harland and Wolff shipyards, the Titanic was the ultimate expression of naval technology of the time and was the largest and most luxurious transatlantic in the world. During his maiden voyage (from Southampton to New York, via Cherbourg and Queenstown), he collided with an iceberg at 23:40 (ship time) on Sunday, April 14, 1912.

The impact with the iceberg caused the opening of some leaks below the waterline, flooding the first 5 watertight compartments of the transatlantic, which 2 hours and 40 minutes later sank (at 2:20 am on April 15th), breaking into two sections.

info: In the shipwreck between 1 490 and 1 523 embarked passengers lost their lives, including the 900 men of the crew; only 706 people managed to save themselves (some of whom died soon after being taken on board the Carpathia), 6 of which were saved among the people who ended up in the water.

The event caused a huge impression on public opinion and led to the convening of the first conference on the safety of human life at sea.

Now in China they are doing full-scale reconstruction in a theme park.
