The Bunker of the Villa Caldogno (Vicenza) is a construction dating back to 1943 and was built by Todt, an organization connected to the German central command, which had the task of designing and building all the military works in the occupied territories.
The shelter was supposed to house the sick and injured, as well as the operating and first-aid rooms, in the case of an aerial bombing of the nearby hospital.
The Bunker was never used for this purpose as the works were finished shortly before the end of the war.
After an exemplary and unique restoration, in 2009 it became an important exhibition space for contemporary art and other cultural activities.
The structure is spread over over 500 square meters of exhibition space and branches out into several rooms, thus allowing the realization of exhibition projects such as large collective and personal exhibitions.
Despite its location, outside the urban center of the city of Vicenza, the structure is part of the tourist / cultural path of the Palladian villas, thus guaranteeing a huge participation of the public, Italian and foreign.
