Rocca Imperiale is an Italian town of 3,306 inhabitants in the province of Cosenza, bathed by the Ionian Sea and located on the border with Basilicata. Rocca Imperiale is famous for its fine lemons which, in addition to being recognized as a Traditional Agri-food Product, have recently received the prestigious IGP mark, which have recently become appreciated and exported to a large part of Italy.
The toponym Rocca would be linked to a reconstructed form of vulgar Latin rocca, with the meaning of rock or cliff, but also as a fortified place, a fortress rebuilt in an elevated place.
In fact, the ancient village climbs up a hill, with the houses arranged in tiers at the foot of the fortress that gave the town its name. With its paths, steep climbs, the ancient bell tower and military buildings, it still retains the appearance of a medieval village.
The image that appears to the visitor is that of a pyramid that runs along the entire slope of the fortress and slopes gently towards the plain.
At the foot of Rocca Imperiale there are 7 kilometers of beautiful beaches, made of rocks, pebbles and fine golden sand.
