Located at the foot of a rocky promontory, in the province of Palermo, stands one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the Municipality of Cefalù, which every year is besieged by numerous tourists, both Italian and foreign; during the summer season, the small town gets to triple its population, which fills the most important squares and streets of the town.
The town, which developed around the Cathedral of Cefalù, wanted by Ruggero II, has preserved its ancient appearance over the centuries, with its narrow streets of the historic center, typically medieval.
The palaces that enrich the city are made up of architectural decorations and the numerous churches present show all the importance of the bishop's seat. Particularly characteristic is the seaside village, with the ancient houses facing the sea.
During your holiday in Cefalù, you cannot fail to visit the cathedral, which in 2015 was declared a UNESCO heritage site.
According to a legend, the cathedral of Cefalù was built following the vote of Salvatore de Ruggero II, after having escaped a storm.
