The Norwegian Maritime Museum, in Norwegian Norsk Maritimt Museum, formerly known as Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum, is a museum founded in 1914, located in Bygdøynesveien, on the Bygdøy peninsula, located west of Oslo.

The museum, whose building also won an award for its architecture, contains an exhibit on coastal cultures and maritime history.

Among the exhibits there are models of boats, fishing equipment, marine archeology, paintings with a marine theme, construction techniques of canals. The video "Maritime Norway" by Ivo Caprino and a thematic library are also part of the museum experience.

Among the artifacts on display, the Arctic ship Gjøa stands out, which was the first vessel to cross the Northwest Passage with Roald Amundsen's 1903-1906 expedition; and the Stavanger, designed by Colin Archer for the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue.

The Norwegian Navigation Museum offers a description of Norway as a coastal and maritime nation. Exceptional panoramic film directed by Ivo Caprino, projected on a giant screen.

The public is taken on a journey along the Norwegian coast. The Museum has a varied seasonal program, with temporary exhibitions.
