The National Gallery of Oslo (Nasjonalgalleriet in Norwegian) is a museum that houses numerous works of modern art including a version of The Scream (Skrik in Norwegian) by Edvard Munch, a version of Vincent van Gogh's Self-portrait, works by El Greco, Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne and Pablo Picasso.
Among the preserved and exhibited Norwegian painters you can admire the works of Heinrich Christian Friedric Hosenfelder, Thomas Fearnley and Karl Edvard Diriks.
The National Gallery is part of the National Museum complex and houses the largest exhibition of Norwegian and foreign art.
The permanent exhibition covers all periods up to the 1960s. The most represented periods are National Romanticism, Realism and Modernism.
