The Arbus Sardinian Knife Museum traces the history of the Sardinian knife from the Neolithic to today.
It is due to the passion and perseverance of the artisan Paolo Pusceddu who, through a careful restoration work, has recovered the premises of an old house near his workshop, managing to set up 4 rooms with the pieces of his collection, some of which are noteworthy. historical value, among which a Leppa Sarda or Busachesa stands out, supplied to the regular troops of the Giudicato of Arborea and dating back to the 15th century.
It was born in 1996 from an idea of ​​the master cutler Paolo Pusceddu.
Made in an ancient building of 1700, it houses ancient traditional knives and modern unique pieces of the most important Sardinian cutlers.
In the first room, on the ground floor, it is possible to admire a collection of about a hundred ancient knives that retrace the stages in the history of the Sardinian knife.
Some pieces of great historical value stand out, including a "Sardinian leppa" or "buschesa", supplied to the regular troops of the Giudicato of Arborea.
Through careful restoration work, the craftsman and master cutler Paolo Pusceddu has recovered the premises of an old house adjacent to his workshop. The museum is divided into four rooms and presents the objects he collected through years of research and exchanges.
In the second room, on the ground floor, you can admire the collection of the best works of L’Arburesa cutlery. Over 150 works by the masters Paolo and Tobia Pusceddu of exceptional artistic value.
The third room, on the ground floor, is a faithful reconstruction of an ancient blacksmith's workshop (su ferreri, in Sardinian).
It is possible to admire some authentic instruments dating back to the early 1900s. In harmony with the environment that hosts them, a bellows, a flywheel drill, a foot wheel and an ancient anvil stand out.
The fourth room, on the upper floor, exhibits a splendid collection of the most representative products of contemporary Sardinian master cutlers.
The Museum houses two interesting stone sculptures with metal inserts by the famous master from Villacidro.
A large wall of the Museum was frescoed by the well-known artist from Selargius with a mural that portrays the master Paolo Pusceddu at work.
Looking up you will see wooden reproductions of ancient warships, populated with bronze miniatures. They are reproductions of the ancient Sardinian bronzes depicting warriors of the Nuragic civilization, kept in the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.
