Duino Castle, a splendid private residence owned by the Della Torre family, first branch of the Torre di Valsassina (von Thum Hofer und Valsassina) and later by the Dukes and princes Della Torre and Tasso, located on a karst rocky spur overlooking the sea and characterized by a suggestive and picturesque view of the Gulf of Trieste, it will host an interesting collective exhibition from 2 to 17 December 2017 that will involve the top ten classified at the "1st International Art Trophy at the Castle".
In turn, the Collective Exhibition is part of a broader program that involves various aspects that belong to and characterize this splendid land, made up of land and sea, which seems to be suspended in the middle of the sky.
In fact, the intention is to promote the typical products of this area, together with the re-enactment and memory of the historical journey that has taken place here over the years.
Duino Castle presents itself as the perfect location for all these Events.
Since 2003 the Castle has been open to the public every day from 9:30 to 16:00, except for the weekly closing day which is Tuesday. In spring and summer the opening hours are from 9:30 to 17:30.
The tourist route moves through rooms, terraces and halls full of precious works of art and extraordinary historical and cultural references.
This historic residence has seen important personalities pass and stop such as: Franz Liszt, Johann Strauss, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Mark Twain, Paul Valéry, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Rainer Maria Rilke, who composed his famous "Elegies" here, Eugène Ionesco and Karl Popper, and numerous other nobles and authorities of the present and the past.
The Contemporary Art Collective will take place in the suggestive Cave Room of the Castle and the Vernissage will be at 11:00 on Saturday 2 December 2017.
The exhibition will then remain open to the public until Sunday 17 December 2017.
The Collective will host the exhibition of works created en plein air, classified in the first places of the "1st International Art Trophy at the Castle" which took place last spring on the occasion of the "Primavera al Castello" event.
The artists who will be present on 2 December with their works are: Comelli Luisia Luis, Angelicchio Michele, Gonnelli Fabio, Cej David, Rasile Pino, Veglia Lorella, Bencic Nadia, Sedmak Taddeo, Prodan Loredana, Boscarol Adriano.
The Cave Room where the works will be exhibited is a place of great beauty, similar to a Roman-oriental style thermal cave, capable of creating a welcoming and muffled atmosphere of intimacy, where at the back of the room the gushing water of the fountain evokes the passage of time in health, beauty and vitality.
Also on Saturday 2 December 2017 but in another room of the Duino Castle and more precisely in the Rilke room at 10:00 the inauguration of the photographic exhibition "The Carabinieri in Trieste from 1918 to 1970" will take place organized in collaboration with the Carabinieri.
Finally, from 12 to 14 at the entrance to the Castle, a tasting of typical products will be held, with free offer and in favor of the purchase of a defibrillator.
A very intense day to live fully in favor of art, history, solidarity and social issues, within one of the most beautiful and evocative historic homes in Europe, perennially suspended between sky, land and sea.
