Beer Museum

For lovers of blondes or redheads with foam and bubbles, a visit to the beer museum is almost a must.

Here you will take a journey through the history of malt nectar produced in the Czech Republic and enjoy a beer tasting in the extraordinary historic cellars of the 13th century.

The tradition of brewing in the Czech Republic may already have brought the Slavs, when the migration of nations was taking place. Beer has been brewed in monasteries since the beginning, hops were also grown there.

The first mention of beer in the Czech Republic dates back to the year 993, when a Czech bishop Vojtàch built a Benedictine monastery in Bàevnov and started brewing beer there.

In the medieval period the production of beer was in the development phase of the cities. In the 13th century, the first legal standards are applied. Later the nobility also wants the right to brew beer, and numerous disputes are ongoing. This is resolved by the 1517 Treaty of Saint Wenceslas, which abrogates the monopoly on the production of beer by the citizens.
