The Belvedere Castle is located in the Landstraße district south of the historic center of Vienna, Austria.

It represents one of the masterpieces of Austrian Baroque architecture and one of the most beautiful princely residences in Europe.

On May 15, 1955, the Austrian state agreements were signed in the Upper Belvedere, which laid the foundations for the Second Austrian Republic.

It was built by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt for Prince Eugene of Savoy and consists of two opposing palaces:

The Upper Belvedere (Oberes Belvedere)

The Lower Belvedere (Unteres Belvedere), separated by a large perspective of French gardens sloping down the hill and overlooking the city.

The interior of both buildings houses the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, one of the main art museums in Vienna.
